Clank! Review

Picture
Deck building, I know what you are thinking, Magic the Gathering. Well, let me assure you that clank! by Renegade Games is not that. Yes Clank! Is a deck builder but the process of making your deck better is so seamless and streamlined that you will never be bored doing it. Let me explain.

In Clank! You will be traveling into the deepest darkest parts a castle in search of treasures, while racing your friends by moving and killing monsters that lurk in the castle.  Collecting items and treasures and getting back out of the castle as if you where Castle themed Super Market Sweep mixed with a little bit of Gladiators. You do this by using cards in your hand and purchasing better cards from the market (deck building). The deeper you do the more rewarding it can be. However, there is a dragon that is trying to protect his treasures.

,The Dragon can't see you but if you make to much noise he will certainly hear you and this mechanism in the game is why I believe it is so great. While moving and fighting through the narrow passages you may make some noise, this comes in the form of clank. clank is indicated by small wooden cubes of your players color.  When you make noise you will be placing clank in the allocated Clank! section of the board.  Then when the dragon attacks you will mix those cubes in the dragon's bag and pull some out. If your color is bulled out then that means he has dealt damage to you and you place that cube on your health tracker, if you fill up your health tracker you are dead.

Now for my verdict on Clank! This is one of my go to games on my game shelf.  The game play is so smooth and makes you really feel like you are traveling through a castle in search of treasures and artifacts. I absolutely love this game and would be on my top 10 list of best games I've ever played.  Everything works so well together and the moment that you draw a monster card that indicates that the dragon will be attacking (indicated by the dragon icon on the monster card) your excitement level increases 10X.

I would recommend this game to anyone, whether your are an experienced gamer or are new to the hobby.  It is easy to learn and teach but feels anything but easy when you play.  I have played Clank! over 50 times and I sill haven't gotten sick of the game and I don't know if it will ever collect dust on my shelf.

So, do I recommend this game? ABSOLUTELY!
