Reigns: The council

Picture
I have always wondered what happens in government when the doors are closed and all that fills the room is the leader and his/her advisors. I can't be the only person that believes that these advisor's are trying to push their own personal agendas. When I saw that Reigns: The Council is exactly what I think happens, I had to look into it some more.

RTC is and asymmetrical party game for 3-6 people about a monarch seeking Harmony in the kingdom, and their advisors trying to influence them for their own goals. The game is super straight forward and seem very easy to pick up and start taking down your monarch. This is the "how to play" directly from their Kickstarter.

As the Monarch is accepting and declining proposals, trackers will be moving on the "Four Pillars of the Realm" board. If the tracker reaches either of the ends of one of the four tracks then the Monarch is dead and a new one will be selected. The Advisors then check their secret objective and score points according to the final tracker position.

I am actually pretty excited about this game. It is something that I can easily teach and play at a party. I really like that when the Monarch dies the person who killed him/her has to tell the story of his death and gives the game a nice little story telling element. I do look forward to playing this because I know it is something my family can get into, lying, deception and pushing person objectives.
