roll player review
If I was to come to you and tell you I have an idea for a new game and said all you would be doing is building a character's attributes for a roll playing game, would you be interested? Probably not. However, let me assure you that Roll Player does exactly this and does it so well. Roll Player is a game where you will be rolling dice and buying upgrades to improve your character, all while trying to complete different aspects of that character.
There are so many different aspects of this game that I like, first and foremost I love how easy it is to learn and teach. I have sat down and taught this game to someone in less then 10 minutes and was still a competitive game. You will only need to play a turn or two for you to fully understand this game.
I also like that there is a great system to control randomness. Yes, it is a dice rolling game so there is a good amount of randomness but you can counter your random dice rolls with the abilities that each trait will give you when placing dice in that trait. For example, when you place dice in your strength attribute you are able to then flip any die on your charter sheet to its opposite side, so this would mean you could turn your 1 into a 6.

Paths to victory! I really like the large number of paths to victory. There are so many different ways to gain victory points, this could be through different upgrades or traits that are acquired through the market phase of a turn or completing your character's Class, Backstory or Alignment “missions”.
Lastly, I would like to tell you that this game scales vary well. You can play Roll Player from 1-4 players and every variation is fun to play. There is a little bit more randomness in the single player variant but it was nothing that made me not want to play it again. I have played Roll Player's single player variant more than I have played with multiple players and I enjoy it every time.

Who would I recommend this to? I would recommend this game to anyone. It is a fun game that is pretty lite and plays in 60 to 90 minutes. Whenever I play a game I always like to judge it in a way a “non-gamer” would, and I really like this game for both Gamer's and Non-Gamers.
