In the not-too-distant future, the game of Texas Hold’em poker has evolved. This enhanced format of the game, named after the secret location of the largest annual tournament, is known as Western Tropic. Each year, the world’s most elite players gather on a tropical island somewhere in the Pacific. The eccentric billionaire who organizes this tournament has quite a fondness for the “Old West” and has gone to great lengths to transform the center of the island into an authentic western town.
Western Tropic plays much like a game of Texas Holdem but feels like a game with much more depth. Players will be moving their characters around a 5X5 grid to make the best poker hand possible in conjunction with the their "hole cards".
What makes this even more difficult is that the grid will constantly be changing when players use actions to move or replace cards. They then take it one step further on throw in Joker cards that have even crazier affects on the game. Things like "Redeal the entire grid" or "All opponents must burn and redraw all of their hole cards". As you can imagine this will impact your strategy greatly.
Players will be gaining points by making poker hands and placing bonus bets until a player reaches 60 points and wins the game.
Every once in a while a game comes out where you say "why didn't I think of that", this is one of those games. Western Tropic is such a great idea that takes a standard game and evolves it into something greater. I found myself wanting to bring real money to the table and place real bets. You can find Western Tropic on Kickstarter on 9/16/19.
